Limited to 100 pieces, the Transformer Boost is the latest addition to our 'Obsolete Devices' series.

Designed around a vintage General Electric 2N1175 germanium transistor driving a Triad Magnetics output transformer, it's a boost, preamp and tone enhancer that will deliver up to 18dB of gain and a whole shedload of character, texture and harmonic complexity.

The Transformer Boost is great for adding warmth and a touch of grit to clean and almost-clean tones. You can also use it to push your amp or other pedals to create more overdrive, with all of the excellent volume knob clean up you would expect from a germanium device.

Simple controls, complex tone

The Transformer Boost has just two knobs: Level and Low Cut. The latter comes in handy when pushing a dirty amp, allowing you to roll off low end for a tighter, cleaner tone.

The Low Cut knob also influences the amount of break-up and colouration present. Cranking up the bottom end will increase transistor and transformer saturation, generating maximum fatness and growl.

The Obsolete Devices series takes obscure NOS (new old stock) components and gives them new life.

Built in small numbers, these limited-edition pedals are specifically designed around the rare and unusual parts we have collected.

Rather than starting with a fixed idea of what we want to make, we let the components lead the way and try to bring out every nuance of their unique and unpredictable character.
